Custom Patch for Custom items
So you ever wondered why the custom items show a "Question mark icon"?
Why you can't use abilities with custom weapons?
MPQs are files which include all the game content, such as terrain, items and 3D models.
DBCs are the game files which interact with the server.
Its due to the DBC files that your wow client uses, which basicly must be the same as the server's ones for it to work perfectly.
So take a look at item.dbc
Its basicly: ItemID - DisplayID - Type - Type2
Where ItemID is just unique ID for the item.
Where DisplayID is id for the display of the icon and model.
Where Type can be weapon, armor or anything else.
Where Type2 is to define it. IE, quest item, 2-handes sword or Fishing Pole.
So basicly what you need to do is to add all our items to your DBC files. Sounds hard? Don't worry, we'll make it easy for you.
When ever a new item is released I will upload a new patch on the website under downloads.
What you do with the .MPQ file, you just throw it to your world of warcraft / data folder and restart your client.
Thanks for reading and hope you learn something today = )
ps: if you're interested in "reading" the MPQ and DBC files, you should google for MpqEditen and a DBC Editor.

Re: Custom Patch for Custom items
I've uploaded a client onto mediafire called WoWPS which allows you to view the actual custom item icon instead of 'question marks', you will use this instead of Wow.exe
Here's the download link!

(Note: This works with 2.4.3 but I'm not sure if it does with 3.3.5)
